For the past four years, 7th grade students from SMS and Siyabulela have been involved in a pen pal program. Through their letters they have learned about each other’s country and culture. In August, 2012, the following teachers departed from Boston for the trip to South Africa to spend a week volunteering at their sister school: Judy McKenzie, Abby Rogers, Megan Bonomolo, Catie Porter, Ann Bush, Elly Mullins, and Katie Wynne. It was an incredible adventure for all and an experience that has strengthened the relationship between the two schools.
